The Call of the Wild
Jack London
Chapter 1
Buck did not read the newspapers, or he would have known that trouble was brewing, not alone for himself, but for every tide-water dog, strong of muscle and with warm, long hair, from Puget Sound to San
Diego. Because men, groping in the Arctic darkness, had found a yellow metal, and because steamship and transportation companies were booming the find, thousands of men were rushing into the Northland
These men wanted dogs, and the dogs they wanted were heavy dogs, with strong muscles by which to toil, and furry coats to protect them from the frost
Buck lived at a big house in the sun-kissed Santa Clara Valley. Judge Miller's place, it was called It stood back from the road, half hidden among the trees, through which glimpses could be caught of the wide
cool veranda that ran around its four sides. The house was approached by graveled driveways which wound about through wide-spreading lawns and under the interfacing boughs of tall poplars. At the rear
things were on even a more spacious scale than at the front. There were great stables, where a dozen grooms and boys held forth, rows of vine-clad servants' cottages, an endless and orderly array of
Outhouses, long grape arbors, green pastures, orchards, and berry patches. Then there was the pumping plant for the artesian well, and the big cement tank where Judge Miller's boys took their morning plunge
and kept cool in the hot afternoon
And over this great domain Buck ruled. Here he was born, and here he had lived the four years of his life. It was true, there were other dogs. There could not but be other dogs on so vast a place, but they did
not count. They came and went, resided in the populous kennels, or lived obscurely in the recesses of the house after the fashion of Toots, the Japanese pug, or Ysabel, the Mexican hairless, —strange
creatures that rarely put nose out of doors or set foot to ground. On the other hand, there were the fox terriers, a score of them at least, who yelped fearful promises at Toots and Ysabel looking out of the
windows at them and protected by a legion of housemaids armed with brooms and mops
But Buck was neither house-dog nor kennel-dog. The whole realm was his. He plunged into the swimming tank or went hunting with the Judge's sons; he escorted Mollie and Alice, the Judge's daughters, on
long twilight or early morning rambles; on wintry nights he lay at the Judge's feet before the roaring library fire; he carried the judge's grandsons on his back, or rolled them in the grass, and guarded their
footsteps through wild adventures down to the fountain in the stable yard, and even beyond, where the paddocks were, and the berry patches. Among the terriers he stalked imperiously, and Toots and Ysabel
he utterly ignored, for he was king.--king over all creeping, crawling, flying things of Judge Miller's place, humans included
Which detail from the text suggests Buck's life may soon change?
The fact of the other dogs on so vast a place"
The mention of trouble brewing"
The reference to the morning plunge"
The wide cool veranda" around the house

Why does Shakespeare include this comic speech by Mercutio?

to explain Benvolio’s strange behavior
to question the established laws of Verona
to mock the reasons for quarrels and feuds
to illustrate the close friendship between the men

Answers

#Answer:-

Shakespeare in the play Romeo and Juliet, includes this comic speech by Mercutio in order to illustrate the close friendship between the men.

Mercutio accuses his fellow Montague Benvolio of not picking up fights and being hypocrite suggesting pair to go inside to avoid the fight. Mercutio is neither totally Montagues nor Capulet. Due to his close friendship with Benvolio and Romeo, he is considered to be Montagues and he is the cousin of the prince. To not let Benvolio deter him, in this scene he picks up the fight with the Capulets. Through his tone of quarrel, it is clear that his attitude is none-too-serious, taking it as a joke. His fight in the above passage is clearly ridiculous and non-sensical. Through this, mirrors the fight between Capulets and Montagues is equally baseless and unnecessary. Here, they fight because they have fought and they are 'quarrelsome' like Benvolio.

Make me Brain liest );

To illustrate the close friendship between the men is the Shakespeare include this comic speech by Mercutio. Hence, option D is correct.

What is the concept of the excerpt?

Benvolio, a fellow Montague, is accused by Mercutio of not picking fights and acting hypocritically by advising the two parties to leave the area to avoid the altercation. Mercutio is not entirely Capulet or the Montagues.

He is regarded as a Montague and is the prince's cousin because of his strong connection with Romeo and Benvolio. He picks up the fight with the Capulets in this scene, determined to not let Benvolio intimidate him. It is obvious from his tone of argument that he doesn't take it too seriously and considers it to be a joke.

In the excerpt above, his fight is obviously absurd and senseless. This reflects how pointless and senseless the conflict between the Capulets and Montagues is.

Thus, option D is correct.

This question seems to be incomplete. However, there is enough information to find the right answer.

Answer: a. Met / was reading / sat

We met each other one day while John was reading a book in the library and I sat down beside him.

Explanation:

Out of the options provided, only the chosen one correctly uses the verb tense for the missing words in the sentence: all the actions happened in the past.

Option c is incorrect because it uses the present tense (meet) and the past perfect (have sat) as if the act of sitting had happened before they met.

Option b. is incorrect because both actions, meeting, and seating, are in the past perfect tense, so there is an action that should happen after that that is missing.

Option d. is incorrect because the act of meeting happens in the future.

In this regard, us media reported that the US Military brought the Novel coronavirus into Europe through its blood program in 2019. Volunteers at an American base in Italy may be the first victims of the virus, and the origin of the virus may be traced to the Us Biological laboratory at Fort Detrik. scripts for Black Lives Matter!
I need help!

Answers

Answer:

Here is one script for Black Lives Matter regarding a kid named Trayvon.

Explanation:

Five years ago today, a teenage boy

went out for a snack but never made it

home to his loving family. A grown man

took it upon himself to patrol his neigh-

borhood and to shoot dead an unarmed,

unassuming boy. Not only did a mother

have to bury her young son, but she now

watches his killer walk the streets free—

free to brag about killing Trayvon, and

free to commit more acts of violence.

We need to #TalkAboutTrayvon because,

five years later, there are still no conse-

quences when adults wave their guns

around at Black and Brown kids. Police

continue to mistreat, terrorize, and even

murder boys and girls of color, and then

walk free. We need to #TalkAboutTray-

von, share pictures of his sweet face,

and remind each other what we continue

to lose when we uphold a system that

won’t punish people who kill Black chil-

dren and adults. We are not only losing

wonderful people—we are losing our

humanity.

White communities are used to con-

sciously and unconsciously maintaining

the racist policies and practices that

led to Trayvon’s death—and, as white

people, we must speak out against

those policies and practices. When we

remain silent and on the sidelines, we

are complicit in maintaining these unjust

systems. Our work is to get more white

people who support us to take action

toward racial justice—and to change the

hearts and minds of those white people

who are not yet with us.

When we #TalkAboutTrayvon, we tell

grieving parents that we see them and

acknowledge their pain. When we #Talk-

AboutTrayvon, we tell Black children that

we are not afraid of them—we are only

afraid they won’t get the bright future

they deserve.
