Part 1
Using the Internet, or resources from your local library, research family life in the United States throughout the second half of the twentieth century, beginning in the 1950s. For each decade (1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s), find out the following information:
Who lives at home?
Who works? Who stays home?
What typical activities do families do together?
Note how trends changed over the years. Once you find your information, do the same type of research for families in Spanish-speaking countries. Again, find out about who lived at home, who worked, and what families do together.
Compare your research across the decades and between the different cultures. Then, compare you research with how families live now.
Part 2
Prepare a graphic, such as a T-chart or a double bar graph (i.e. one bar U.S., one bar Spanish-speaking cultures) to present your information. Write a brief report (minimum 250 words) to summarize your research and the information in the graphic. Upload your completed summary and graphic below.
Okay so in the US in the 1950s men were the moneymakers. They had to go to work every day and the wife was expected to clean the house, and have dinner ready for when her husband got home. The children were also supposed to clean themselves up as well all so that the husband would be pleased. Because it was after the Second World War, money was a little tight, but families spent time together by going to the movies, and spending time on holidays, and they also played board games. In the 60s things changed. It was an era of change and there were a lot of protests going on and civil rights movements for women. In the home teenagers were more free to do what they wanted, listen to the music they wanted, and dress less proper. Women had voices as well and started to find more jobs, and people could afford things like cars. Families watched tv together and go to restaurants more often. In the 1970s, marriage rates increased, as did divorce rates. Women still continued to find more jobs, so now it wasn’t unusual for both parents to be working. The decade started with the equal pay act. Computer technology started to become more advanced so for entertainment, people would ply on their Atari computer gaming systems. Families started spending less time with each other though. This continued on throughout the 80s and 90s, and I cant find the answers about Spanish households I’m sorry :(

Prompt
Now that you have worked through a lot of material that includes these basic patterns, and you have compared
grammatically correct and incorrect sentences, write down what you think is a rule that could explain what makes a
sentence grammatically correct or not. For example, you might write something like: "verbs always match nouns in
number, and they usually come before the noun." In other words, make your best guess for the grammar rule that makes
sense out of the pattern(s) you see in the phrases you have been working with. Review if you need to, and you might
briefly check your hunches against the sentences you have been working with in this or previous modules. Keep in mind
that what you're after is your hunch, not a grammar rule from a text book. Now check your hunch with the explanation of
this principle in the following pattern.
