torture
C.

D.

Answers

Answer:

its B

Explanation:

Torture is  the violation of the Eighth Amendment

The 8th Amendment to the United States Constitution states, ''Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.'' The Constitution itself provides this simplified definition of the amendment which provides certain protections to citizens, particularly in regards to punishment and bail. A similar amendment is also found in the English Bill of Rights.

What is Bill of Right?

The 8th Amendment was ratified in 1791 at the same time as the rest of the Bill of Rights, which are the first ten amendments to the Constitution. James Madison wrote these ten amendments which are designed to limit the powers of government in favor of individual freedoms whenever possible.

Some of the amendments prohibit the government from overreach into citizens' private lives. The 8th Amendment is designed, in part, to protect the presumption of innocence; that is, excessive bail cannot be used as a way to punish those who have not yet been convicted of a crime.

8th Amendment

The 8th Amendment protects citizens who are arrested. First, the amendment addresses the issue of bail. The 8th Amendment prohibits the government from charging more money for bail or fines than is reasonable. In addition, two factors must be considered when setting bail. The first consideration is how much money the defendant has; the second is whether the defendant is likely to flee the country. The Supreme Court has overturned an excessive fine only once because of the 8th Amendment.

The 8th Amendment has also been used to examine prison conditions. Courts have determined that this amendment calls for officials to address prison sanitation; prisons that allow unsafe or unsanitary conditions to occur would be in violation of the 8th Amendment. This amendment also relates to prison conditions because it forbids prison guards and other members of law enforcement from using excessive force or brutality against prisoners. The importance of the 8th Amendment in regard to prisoners is clear from the protections it affords to incarcerated people.

The 8th Amendment specifically bans:

Excessive bail or finesExcessive force or brutal treatmentUnsafe prison conditionsUnsanitary prison conditions

Answers

I’m sorry if we don’t get to you know ever before because

In the research study based on cognitive dissonance, when participants later rated how enjoyable the boring task actually was the $1 group ended up deciding that the task was actually interesting because they had low external justification.

What is cognitive dissonance?

Cognitive dissonance is a phenomenon in which a person rejects new evidence that contradicts his pre-existing beliefs. It is the discomfort that a person feels when their actions do not correspond to their values or beliefs. It can also happen when a person holds two opposing beliefs at the same time.

The research was conducted to prove the existence of cognitive dissonance.  According to research studies, in the Festinger and Carlsmith's (1959) classic study on cognitive dissonance, participants who were paid $20 for doing a boring task tell the truth about the tedious nature of the work more than those who were paid $1 for doing the same task. Participants who were paid $1, on the other hand, rated the task as significantly more enjoyable and exciting than subjects who were paid $20.

Therefore, the $1 group ended up deciding that the task was actually interesting.

Followers of Judaism believe that: A. people should follow the rules in the Tanakh. B. God does not interact with human beings. C. people should work hard during the Sabbath. D. Jewish people should always worship idols.

Answers

Followers of Judaism believe that: A. People should follow the rules in the Tanakh. Option A is the correct answer.

The Tanakh is the Hebrew Bible, which contains the Torah (Moses' first five books), the Nevi'im (prophets), and the Ketuvim (writings).

God is considered to be actively involved in the world and human lives in Judaism. Jewish teachings place a premium on God's personal interaction with individuals, and there is a significant belief in divine intervention, providence, and guidance.

In Judaism, the Sabbath is a day of rest and contemplation celebrated from Friday evening to Saturday evening. It is seen as a sacred time to stop working, engage in worship and prayer, and spend quality time with family and community.

Judaism is a monotheistic faith, which means that it believes in only one God. Idol worship is strictly forbidden in Judaism since it violates the fundamental premise of monotheism. Therefore, Option A is the correct answer.

Mordecai's faith may be inferred by: his statement that if Esther failed to act, deliverance would come to the Jews in some other way his suggestion that Esther might have been providentially placed in the palace for preservation of her people his belief that the house of Esther's father would not escape the plot of Haman if she failed to act all of the above

Answers

Answer:

his statement that if Esther failed to act, deliverance would come to the Jews in some other way  his suggestion that Esther might have been providentially placed in the palace for the preservation of her people

Explanation:

Mordecai was a cousin of Esther, both were Jews and lived in a time when Jews were highly persecuted and hated in Persia. However, Mordecai had faith that God would act on behalf of the Jews and free them from persecution. For this reason, he and Esther pretended not to be Jews so that she could enter the harem of the king of Persia, become queen and help her people to be set free. However, he had faith that even if she did nothing, God would deliver his people in some other way. Thus, we can infer Mordecai's faith in two ways:

his statement that if Esther failed to act, deliverance would come to the Jews in some other way  his suggestion that Esther might have been providentially placed in the palace for the preservation of her people

We have learned a lot about ourselves during this pandemic.

Explanation:

We have learned that we cannot procrastinate, that we can learn to fend to ourselves, to be healthier, that we have to be kind. We have also learned that we should be really grateful we are healthy and alive, because there are people out there who aren't. We have learned to take care of ourselves better, now that we are being quarantined. In general, we have learned to not take things for granted, and that this pandemic has taught us a lesson to take more care of ourselves and our loved ones.

Was it possible in 1848 to verify the accuracy of Baron Hugel’s description of the Golden Temple? Why or why not? 4 to 5 sentences please!

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

It was towards the end of the 19th century that the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church identified a threat to Christian doctrine in a historically rapid drift to a one-world perception of reality. This they labelled "modernism".

He was in his lifetime often associated with the so-called modernist movement which in the latter part of the nineteenth century was bitterly criticised and strongly opposed by the Roman Catholic Church. But although von Hugel was indeed an adventurous thinker, he remained faithful to the Roman Catholic Church all his life, regarding it as the finest possible expression of humanity's religious spirit.

Nevertheless, it's a fair to say that he attempted to straddle the "great divide" between modern and traditional conceptions of the Christian way of life. In particular, he argued against the conclusion that there is no necessary connection between our subjective experience and the world "out there".

He was supported in his conclusions by a wide and deep knowledge of the history of religion. When he analysed Western cultures, he came up with what he perceived as three distinct elements or characteristics:

The Greek desire for a rich harmony in nature;

the Christian capacity to understand how people work and the hidden depths of personality; and

science, the analytical method by which we discover and formulate facts about the universe and the laws which govern them.

All three are essential to human well-being, said Hugel. This meant in practice, for example, that it was right for theologians to dissect and criticise the Bible just as other artifacts in our lives are analysed scientifically. It was probably this sort of free thinking which earned him the suspicion and sometimes opposition of other Roman Catholics.

He was perhaps to some extent protected by living in England, with its long and bitter experience of religious persecutions and its resulting sense of broad tolerance in matters religious. I have little doubt that he would have been greatly disturbed by fanatical fundamentalists in the 21st century.

Read the passage from chapter 14 of The Prince.A prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who rules, and it is of such force that it not only upholds those who are born princes, but it often enables men to rise from a private station to that rank. And, on the contrary, it is seen that when princes have thought more of ease than of arms they have lost their states. And the first cause of your losing it is to neglect this art; and what enables you to acquire a state is to be master of the art. Francesco Sforza, through being martial, from a private person became Duke of Milan; and the sons, through avoiding the hardships and troubles of arms, from dukes became private persons.
