LETTER FROM THE SEA

Tuesday, 13th of August

Dear grandma,

I've been here long enough to be sure: I like the island of Issopyxos! If Mom really never wants to get on a ship more than her for her entire life and therefore has to stay here forever, then let's stay with her. We could have a good time here. The hotel porter told me that in February all the trees already have flowers and that it is five degrees Celsius when it's cold. Of course I would have to learn Greek in order to go to school. Mom could earn some money and I am the dad too. We could paint the stones, the dried pumpkins and even the t-shirts to sell to tourists. Besides, we would need less money than at home, because we don't need winter boots, woolen hats and anoraks here. Now I have to stop writing. Mom and Dad called me from the balcony to go to lunch. A thousand kisses.

Look back at the paragraph in your lesson about hereditary hemochromatosis. Using a medical dictionary (such as the one linked below), translate it into ordinary English, making sure to get rid of all jargon. Remember to rewrite the paragraph rather than simply swapping out words, as demonstrated in the lesson.

Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is an inherited disorder of iron metabolism, with an estimated prevalence of 0.25-0.50% among Caucasians. An epidemiologic study is currently underway to determine the prevalence, as well as the genetic and environmental determinants, of iron overload related to hereditary hemochromatosis in a multiethnic population . . . Early initiation of therapeutic phlebotomy before organ damage occurs may restore a normal life expectancy and improve symptoms.

This disease is more common in white individuals, where it shows a prevalence of approximately 0.25-0.50%. Scientists have already started several studies and researches to understand and control the causes and distribution of this disease, as well as understand all the elements that can stimulate it. However, it is already known that early blood collection can indicate abnormal levels of iron in the body and allow the patient to start treatment early, before damage to the organs occurs, improving the symptoms of the disease and increasing the life expectancy of this patient."

Knowledge will give you power but good character will give you respect’. Interpret it in your own words.

Answers

Answer:

This proverb was given by the famous Hollywood actor Bruce Lee. It means that if you have knowledge, you can do many things. Knowledge makes you powerful. But if you have character, people will respect you. Knowledge will not make you look into your reflection in the mirror, the strength of your character will. Character gives you the courage to keep your head up with pride and honour, something that knowledge will not always give.If you have knowledge and you know how to put it into use, you have the key to many things in this world. With knowledge comes power. But if you don’t have character, no amount of knowledge will get you your true respect. Respect is something that you have to deserve, to earn with your actions. You have to be worthy to have someone’s respect. Knowledge can’t make anyone think well of you or to respect you. It can’t make you control what others think of you. It is only the character that will make you worthy of true respect. Character gives you a life of honour and integrity. It makes you respected by everyone, even by those who don’t like you.

What can we do for disabled persons and we have to find solutions something new

Answers

Answer:

Teaching people to be more educated & respectful of disabled people. It's more prominent in our society for people to treat disabled people as inferior and use derogatory words. I think the best way to better improve this is to start by teaching children at a young age that it's okay to be different.

Here is something I found online that might help:

Promote Social Inclusion in Schools

Our overall cultural consciousness on how we treat and interact with disability needs to change, beginning in elementary schools. We need to celebrate our peers for their differences. If this is taught at a young age, less discrimination and more social inclusion will occur. Having kids with and without disabilities learning side-by-side helps everybody appreciate the talents and gifts all kids bring with them. As a society, we have the responsibility to promote the inclusion of our differences.

Answers

Answer:

B)   By trading with them, indigenous peoples would be exposed to those who preached the European religion

Explanation:

It appears that the European colonizers' goal of religious conversion is supported by indigenous trade. The colonizers' stated goal is to spread the religion throughout the Americas. Their second objective is to profit from their own country. Trade, they believe, can help them achieve both. Native Americans would be exposed to European religion through trade, and Europeans would profit from the exchanges.
