How do we see the influence of John Locke and Montesquieu today

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

John Locke had a big influence in today's society. John Locke is one of the reason we have natural rights today. The natural rights are life, liberty, and property. Today those rights are protected. That means we have the right to live life the way we want, be free and do what we please that is legal, and the right to property. That also means that your property is protected.

Some people might say that the most influential Enlightenment thinkers were Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Voltaire, Baron de Montesquieu, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. I'm only going to be talking about John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, and Voltaire.

Voltaire's Influence on Today's Society

Who is Voltaire? Voltaire is one of the people who believed in freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Voltaire believed if we had freedom of speech we could speak out against a bad government. Voltaire spoke out and said, "I do not agree with a word that you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That is a saying that he was known for. In Voltaire's time they had to follow a certain religion or they would be severely punished. This is why Voltaire believed in freedom of religion.

Montesquieu's Influence on Today's Society

Montesquieu was another person who had a major affect on society today. Some people who don't know about Montesquieu might wonder where the concept of separation of powers or the idea of three branches in the government came from. This idea came from Montesquieu. Montesquieu had an idea that there would be three branches but, no one would have too much power or be able to abuse their power. That is where checks and balances come in. Checks and balances is the idea that there are three branches which are legislative, judicial, and executive. These branches keep each other in check so there is equal power.

MY QUESTION IS WHO DISCOVER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

Answers

Answer:

American Vikings

Viking ships found America one thousand years ago.

Sure, Columbus made America known to the Europeans who ultimately conquered it, but he didn’t discover it by any means.

Leif Erikson, the son of Erik the Red, was a Norse explorer from Iceland — a Viking. Erik the Red founded the first Norse settlement in Greenland. Discovery and expansion ran through their blood, as Leif went on to travel much farther: to America.

Leif and his crew traveled from Greenland to Norway in 999 AD, where he converted to Christianity. Not long after that, he sailed the Atlantic. According to the Sagas of Icelanders, he established a Norse settlement at Vinland, which is (debatably) in Newfoundland in modern-day Canada. For many years, this was thought to be only a mythological story — more myth than reality — but archaeological evidence has shown, beyond a doubt, that Vikings reached Canada.

The first Viking archaeological site in the New World is L’Anse aux Meadows, a thousand-year-old way station discovered in 1960 on the northern tip of Newfoundland. The feature was a clear indication that Vikings had visited North America centuries before Columbus — at least partially, the myth was proven to be true. Archaeologists actually used clues from the sagas to guide their research.

The Ministers became alarmed at his state, and when the news of his illness became public there was the greatest and most universal anxiety for news.In spite of slight improvements from time to time, the Prince showed no power of fighting the disease, and on the evening of the 14th December he passed gently away.It is no exaggeration to say that the death of the Queen's beloved husband saddened every home in the land; it was a sorrow felt equally by the highest and the lowest. The whole family was summoned, and, one after another, the children took a silent farewell of their father. "It was a terrible moment," Victoria wrote in her diary, "but, thank God! I was able to command myself, and to be perfectly calm, and remained sitting by his side." He murmured something, but she could not hear what it was; she thought he was speaking in French. Then all at once he began to arrange his hair, "just as he used to do when well and he was dressing." "Es kleines Frauchen," she whispered to him; and he seemed to understand. For a moment, towards the evening, she went into another room, but was immediately called back; she saw at a glance that a ghastly change had taken place.
