Using multimedia and visual displays can be extremely helpful when dealing with____ topics
(1 point)
-complex -multiple
-older -basic

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Using multimedia and visual displays can be extremely helpful when dealing with complex topics.

Explanation:

When we're dealing with complex topics, multimedia and visual displays can help us understand them with more ease. For example, if the topic in question includes statistics, charts and graphs would help us follow and understand this type of information with no problem.

When it comes to more basic (simpler) topics, these tools are not as necessary.

Whether topics are older or more recent is irrelevant to whether multimedia and visual displays are necessary.

When it comes to multiple topics, it's better to deal with topics one by one. Either way, whether multimedia and visual displays are necessary or not will depend on the complexity of the topics.

1. In "Señor Noboa," which statement best describes how Señor Noboa
and his father came to amass their vast property?*
O A. They stumbled into repeated lucky opportunities.
O B. They forced other landowners into selling their land cheaply.
O C. They used their fortunes to spend large sums on massive stretches of land
O D. They purchased the land through lengthy negotiations and complex treaties.

Answers

Answer:

In "Señor Noboa," the statement which best describes how Señor Noboa  and his father came to amass their vast property is:

B. They forced other landowners into selling their land cheaply.

Explanation:

"Señor Noboa" is a short story by author Raúl Leis. Noboa is the owner of a banana plantation where he exploits the work of thousands of laborers. At the very beginning of the story, the narrator lets us know how Señor Noboa and his father got to own so much land:

During the last fifty  years he had extended the lands inherited from his father by  squeezing small landholders so they would sell him their small  properties for a pittance. This was also how the large properties he  had inherited had come into being.

As we can see, Señor Noboa and his father forced those landowners to sell their land cheaply. This is, in fact, a representation of a common and unfortunate practice that took (and still takes) place all over the Americas. Small land owners are constantly forced out of their lands by people with means and power.

Choose the text structure that best describes the type of organization the author used in "Mother Teresa": problem and solution, cause and effect, compare and contrast, or chronological order. Explain how this type of structure helps the reader understand the article.

Answers

Answer:

Chronological order

Explanation:

"Mother Teresa" tells the story of Mother Teresa during her years of life, explaining the woman she was and how that made her the icon that is considered today by Catholics around the world. The article is organized in a chronological structure, organizing the events of her life as they happened and making the reader understand her attitudes towards the physical and spiritual maturity that she was building as she got older and as time passed.

In other words, the author may have decided to write the article in chronological order so that the reader would see Mother Teresa's gradual growth and evolution.

HELP ASAP
Read the excerpt from "Children of the Drug Wars.”

By sending these children away, "you are handing them a death sentence,” says José Arnulfo Ochoa Ochoa, an expert in Honduras with World Vision International, a Christian humanitarian aid group. This abrogates international conventions we have signed and undermines our credibility as a humane country. It would be a disgrace if this wealthy nation turned its back on the 52,000 children who have arrived since October, many of them legitimate refugees.

The underlined words and phrases have strong negative connotations. How do they support the author’s purpose?

They draw attention to the opinion that the United States is not doing enough to help these children.
They show that there is a desperate need for all countries to be willing to help refugees.
They show that the United States has participated in international conventions on how to handle the refugee crisis.
They make it clear that the United States will lose the respect of other nations if it does not help these children.

In preparation for a group discussion, read about when Miep Gies found Anne Frank’s diary. Then I walked into Mr. and Mrs. Frank's bedroom. On the floor, amidst the chaos of papers and books, my eye lit on the little red-orange checkered, cloth-bound diary that Anne had received from her father on her thirteenth birthday. I pointed it out to Elli. Obeying my gesture, she leaned down and picked it up for me, putting it into my hands. I remembered how happy Anne had been to receive this little book to write her private thoughts in. I knew how precious her diary was to Anne. My eyes scanned the rubble for more of Anne's writings, and I saw the old accounting books and many more writing papers that Elli and I had given to her when she had run out of pages in the checkered diary. Elli was still very scared, and looked to me for direction. I told Elli, "Help me pick up all Anne's writings." —Anne Frank Remembered, Miep Gies In a group discussion, a participant says, "I would never have picked up the diary. It’s not worth the risk.” How would you respond to share your viewpoint? Write three sentences.

Sample Response:

I disagree because I feel that it was one little thing that Miep Gies could do for her friends. She had already made the decision to risk so much, and she couldn't stop then. I would have taken the diary to hide and hoped to see Anne again to return it to her.

He is being held captive on the island Ogygia by the "bewitching nymph" (1.17) Calypso who wants him for her husband. Sharks' Teeth
By Langston Carter

The day we found the sharks' teeth was foggy and cool. Moisture hung in the air so thick you could almost see it sparkling in the dim sunlight. There were days, early in the summer like this one, where it seemed there was more water in the air than in the bay. We had beached the boat and stepped out on the recently cleared spit of land. The ground had a light dusting of white sand over an under layer of dried black mud. It looked like a recently frosted chocolate cake, though the frosting was spread a bit thin for my taste. The ground was solid, but we knew from experience that it was full of fiddler crab holes, and would be underwater at the first super-high tide. Mysteriously, to us anyway, someone wanted to build a house there.

We often came to these spots to look for artifacts. Our beach, our summer home, had been a fishing camp for as long as anyone living could remember. The oldest stories told of travelers coming down to the edge of the sea, lining up to fill their wagon beds with salted fish to take back home. Old decaying cabins still lined the beach. Rotting nets, hung out to dry in the last century, decorated their weathered walls. Their broken faces spun stories in our minds. The fishermen who, tanned and wrinkled from sun and salt, hauled their nets full of splashing mullet in to cheers from the waiting crowds. The bounty of the sea lightened everyone's hearts, and the smell of roasting fish filled the damp air. Women fanned themselves from wagon seats. Children splashed in the shallow edges of the bay. It was a scene we had acted out as youngsters, building an imaginary bridge to a life we would never fully know.

2. The comparison being made between Man and King George III is of the subjugation to which they have subjected women and the American colonists to respectively.

Explanation:

In the Declaration of Sentiments, the American women laid their complaints of how they have been relegated to the background and their civil and human rights, denied them by the male folks. They were not allowed to vote, or contribute in matters about the society, they were punished for mistakes which were tolerated when committed by the male gender. She knew that she had to do something to change this man's life, or he could end up alone with feelings of anger pent up. She asked her new vendor friends to help with her plan to help this angry vendor man. That afternoon, they were ready to enact their plan. She went up to the vendor man and annoyed him so much he started chasing her. She led him to one of the vendor's houses, where they set up a psychiatrist table and got him to talk about his anger issues.
