Read Jessica’s argument about pet ownership:

Although pet ownership is a huge responsibility, pets can help people become physically and psychologically healthier. Studies also show that pet owners suffer fewer and less severe instances of depression and anxiety.

How can Jessica better introduce her claim?

A.
State her reasons separately from her claim.
B.
Move her reasons and evidence into separate paragraphs.
C.
Provide background information, such as statistics about how many people in the United States own pets.
D.
Give details from the studies she mentions, such as statistics about the health of pet owners versus the health of non-pet owners.

Answer 2

Make certain that the proof backs up your argument or statements. So, option (B): "Move her reasons and evidence into separate paragraphs," is the correct answer.

What is the best way to introduce a claim?

A claim is a speaker's or researcher's point of view (POV) on a topic. It should ideally be toward the conclusion of the first paragraph.

It might potentially go in the introduction. The placement of a claim in an essay or research paper may also be influenced by the length of the claim or the length of your document.

However, it is preferable to put it at a location where your readers can receive it without having to read too much.

In essence, you're expressing and defending your point of view on a subject. Use the offered resources to get the tools you need to thoroughly comprehend and integrate your claim into your introductory paragraph.

As a result, option (B) is the way Jessica can introduce her claim.

A claim refers to a statement that expresses a position related to some issue or topic or a statement that you believe is true and that emerge from personal experience, information sources or deduction processes. Additionally, when claims are explained through evidence or by other means they become an argument for written or oral discussions because they express what someone believes or considers related to an issue. A a statistic about the injuries prevented by helmets

B an image of a child riding without a helmet

C a chart showing the best places to buy a helmet

D a graphic describing different kinds of helmets 50 POINTS

Answers

Answer:

a is correct i had this question and a is right please give brainliest

Explanation:

Adding a statistic about the injuries prevented by helmets would be the most appropriate addition to the image to support the claim that children should wear helmets when riding bicycles. Hence, the correct answer is A.

What are helmets?

Helmets are protective headgear worn to reduce the risk of head injuries in a variety of activities, including biking, skiing, snowboarding, and motorcycling. They typically consist of a hard outer shell made of plastic or fiberglass, a cushioning layer, and a chinstrap to secure the helmet in place. Helmets are designed to absorb impact and protect the head from traumatic injuries, and are an important safety measure for anyone engaged in high-risk activities.

Adding a statistic would provide evidence to support the claim and demonstrate the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike. For example, adding a statistic such as "wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of head injury by 85%" would be a strong argument in favor of wearing a helmet.

Therefore, adding a statistic about the injuries prevented by helmets would be the most appropriate addition to the image to support the claim that children should wear helmets when riding bicycles. Hence, the correct answer is A.

Answers

Answer:

Repetition.

Explanation:

Rhetorical devices are those literary or stylistic devices used by writers to infuse a sense of richness in their works through words and also present a persuasive appeal to the readers so as to influence them in a particular direction. These devices allow the works to have a certain appeal to the readers and thus, giving a sense of emotional provocation or influence over them.

One of the most common rhetorical devices used for laying emphasis on a point is the use of repetition in a sentence or even a text. Repetition, as is the term, is the repeated use of the same words in near/ consecutive order. This repetition provides a clearer picture of what is implied or stated and brings attention to it so as to make it memorable and emphasizing the point.

Snape became a death eater because he wanted to become one and Voldemort in turn saw no reason to deny him what he wanted. ... During the Hogwarts time, he is closed with some futuer Death Eaters in Slytherin, and Snape himself is very intrested in dark magic, so he is kind of born to be a Death Eater. He was a genuine Death Eater for around 18 months, give or take, and then a fake one for years. Dumbledore, aware that Voldemort had ordered Draco to kill him, had asked Snape to kill him instead as a way of sparing the boy's soul and of preventing his own otherwise slow, painful death. Snape was Dumbledore's man from the moment Lily was murdered. Over the years he did whatever he could to try to make up for his past as a Death Eater, and he followed Dumbledore – for the most part – without question. But when the headmaster of Hogwarts revealed Harry's true fate, Snape's reaction was not unlike ours.

"The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell

If the general is also a Cossack, then wouldn't his characterization of Ivan also apply to him? Contrast this with your initial impression of the general based on his manner of speaking and his appearance.

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

Let's briefly contextualize this question. General Zaroff is a hunter in the short story "The Most Dangerous Game". The main character Rainsford, also a famous hunter, accidentally lands in Zaroff's island and is invited by the general to hunt a different kind of game: men. Rainsford, who sees this practice as nothing but murder, refuses. Zaroff, then, proceeds to hunting Rainsford.

If the general is also a Cossack, then wouldn't his characterization of Ivan also apply to him? Contrast this with your initial impression of the general based on his manner of speaking and his appearance.

Both the general and his servant Ivan are Cossacks. However, this is how Zaroff chooses to describe Ivan:

"Ivan is an incredibly strong fellow," remarked the general, "but he has the misfortune to be deaf and dumb. A simple fellow, but, I'm afraid, like all his race, a bit of a savage."

"Is he Russian?"

"He is a Cossack," said the general, and his smile showed red lips and pointed teeth. "So am I."

Notice that Zaroff calls Ivan a savage, attributing that to his race. Shortly afterwards, he reveals he is a Cossack himself, while smiling. We can see the general is playing games with Rainsford. He comes across as an educated, wealthy man who is also prejudiced to, all of a sudden, call himself a savage. In a way, he feels superior to Ivan. However, he relates to the savage side of their race (this is not my opinion, it is the character's).

This contrast serves to show that the general has a sort of bestial side to him. He is an intelligent man who does not hesitate to kill other men just for fun. There is no humanity in him, even though he is apparently human. His manner and appearance are a disguise. Inside, Zaroff is worse than an animal, for even animals only kill their own species out of necessity.

Ivan's characterization applies to General Zaroff in parts.

This is because Zaroff feels superior to Ivan, for being a well-educated man, rich and without any type of disability, unlike Ivan, who is deaf, mute, poor, and poorly educated. However, Zaroff claims that Ivan is a savage because he is a Cossack.

At this point, Zaroff applies the characterization of Ivan to himself, as he claims that he is also a Cossack, that is, at this point, Zaroff claims that despite his superiority, he maintains a wildness within himself.

It is important to point out that "The Most Dangerous Game" is a book that presents the following history:

A renowned Hunter named Rainsford ends up sinking and seeking help on the island of Zaroff.Zaroff is also a very talented hunter, in addition to being a general and a very rich and imposing man.He invites Rainsford on a different hunt. This hunt consists of using Rainsford as the hunt, where he has to escape and save himself from Zarof's violence.

Read the sentence from Samuel Johnson's preface to A Dictionary of the English Language. It is the fate of those who toil at the lower employments of life, to be rather driven by the fear of evil, than attracted by the prospect of good; to be exposed to censure, without hope of praise. What is the best definition of the underlined word as it is used in the sentence? a statement of wit or amusement an expression of disapproval or condemnation a sentiment of indifference or apathy an exclamation of profound admiration or esteem

ANSWER IS B- an expression of disapproval or condemnation (; since the other one is "locked" )

Answers

Note: I can see you've already given the answer. I just wish to offer an explanation.

Answer:

The underlined word is "censure". The best definition for it as it is used in the sentence is:

B. an expression of disapproval or condemnation

Explanation:

The noun "censure" can be defined as an expression of strong disapproval or criticism. In other words, if you censure someone, you are condemning their behavior by expressing your opinion in a severe manner. Even if we did not know what the word means by itself, we could have chosen option B by taking the context into consideration. The author is working with opposite ideas in this excerpt- good and bad, censure and praise. Thus, if praise means an expression of admiration, censure must be its opposite.
