Answer:

Here's a really bad short story, lol- I tried but also didn't so it's not the best. It definetly could use some improvement. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be like science fiction of something, so I used paranormal activity I guess?

Explanation:

Footsteps slowly creaked on every step of the stairs. The bedroom door handle turned slowly, an eerie creak being heard as the door was pushed open. The house was old and settled into the ground as the cold winter air beat against it. The father of the house slept soundly in his bed as the mother tiptoed through the house. She avoided as many creaks and dips as possible as she snuck into her child's room. The daughter of the home lit up as she saw her mother, the noises of before had scared her terribly. “Mother, mother! Might you check under the bed for me?? I heard noises.” She spoke hushed and quickly, afraid of someone overhearing. Her mother scooped her up out of the bed with her strong arms. “Mother?” The woman didn’t not speak. This began to worry the child.

The mother of the girl carried her out of the room, silently, it seemed all the ordinary noises that had occured when the mother approached had vanished. The house was deadly silent, even scarier than creaks and moans. It appeared the color on the walls began to vanish the farther they walked. The daughter looked up at the woman holding her. It no longer had the face of her mother. The creature's face was long and sad, it’s arms skinny, and it’s body weirdly proportioned. It didn’t scare the child though. They stood in a dark area, as dark as the deepest ocean, and watched one another. The girl stayed with the creature. It looked so sad she couldn’t ignore it. She placed her hand on it’s long face, “You were lonely weren’t you?”.

“I was the monster under the bed..” It replied lowley.

Read the excerpt from "A Defence of Poetry." Hence the fame of sculptors, painters, and musicians, although the intrinsic powers of the great masters of these arts may yield in no degree to that of those who have employed language as the hieroglyphic of their thoughts, has never equalled that of poets in the restricted sense of the term, as two performers of equal skill will produce unequal effects from a guitar and a harp. The fame of legislators and founders of religions, so long as their institutions last, alone seems to exceed that of poets in the restricted sense; but it can scarcely be a question, whether, if we deduct the celebrity which their flattery of the gross opinions of the vulgar usually conciliates, together with that which belonged to them in their higher character of poets, any excess will remain. This excerpt suggests that poetry is to other art forms.

Answers

Answer:

This excerpt suggests that poetry is superior to other art forms.

Explanation:

The text states that artists in general "has never equaled that of poets in the restricted sense of the term." In this sentence we can already see that the author of the text places poetry as an art superior to all others, an art form that can never be compared with other forms, because it reaches levels like neither music, nor painting, nor sculpture will achieve. The author also states that if we analyze in depth, not even the work of legislators and religious educators is greater and better than poetry and its effects.

Answer: superior

Explanation: the way he says that other art forms have never equaled that of poets

what are some facts about volcanoes?

Answers

Answer:

Here

Explanation:

An erupting volcano can trigger tsunamis, flash floods, earthquakes, mudflows and rockfalls. More than 80% of the earth's surface is volcanic in origin. The seafloor and some mountains were formed by countless volcanic eruptions. Gaseous emissions from volcano formed the earth's atmosphere.

Answer:

The word volcano originally comes from the name of the Roman god of fire, Vulcan.

Volcanoes are usually located where tectonic plates meet. This is especially true for the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area around the Pacific Ocean where over 75% of the volcanoes on Earth are found.

Volcanoes can be active (regular activity), dormant (recent historical activity but now quiet) or extinct (no activity in historical times and unlikely to erupt again). While these terms are useful, scientists are more likely to describe volcanoes by characteristics such a how they formed, how they erupt and what their shape is.

Citing Textual Evidence
Please Help
Step #1 How do I properly cite textual evidence?

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Answers

Answer:

Knowing the answer is one thing...but being able to justify your thinking by citing text is an entirely different type of skill. Taking the text and combing through it, like an old man at the beach with a metal detector, determined to find some treasures, not only takes strong reading comprehension skills but also takes some perseverance, to find what we're looking for.

Here are the six steps I use in my classroom, to teach this important reading skill:

1. Teach the Specific Steps to Cite Text Evidence

No secrets here...I'm a firm believer in teaching kids explicitly how to do the skills we want them to have, whether it's reading or math or any other subject. Often times, I like to make my thinking public, so that my modeling will give the kids an idea of what they can do to reach a particular learning goal. Mentor texts are a great tool to use here and can be read in one sitting, using lots of examples.

About the steps...To cite text evidence, we talk about how we need to read the whole text first (duh, but some kids might just try to skip this part and just try to answer the questions). Then, we read the question and think about how we might answer it.

Once we figure out our answer, we go back to the text and search for specific parts of the text, that will help us justify our answer. We make sure to take some time to discuss what it means to justify something and the kids enjoy this part a lot. For example, justify why you should have recess... Justify why you should be able to have a cell phone... Justify why you should be able to have a sleepover... Like little lawyers in the making!

Answer:

character motivation?

For example, Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games is motivated to volunteer for her sister, because she wants to protect her (external) and because she could not live with herself if she did not (internal).

character's Actions

Like dialogue, a character's actions in response to the words or actions of others can be deliberate or involuntary.

character's thoughts

Direct internal dialogue refers to a character thinking the exact thoughts as written, often in the first person.

character's Words

It works to tell you more about the character and how they converse with others or react. When it comes to dialogue, you might see two types: outer and inner dialogue. Outer dialogue is when a character talks to another character in the story or play.

Indirect characterization involves showing the reader what a character is like through the character's thoughts, actions, words, and motivations, as well as others' reaction to the character.

What is characterization?

Characterization is the thing that clears the image of the character; it is the personality that a person carries in front of the audience. There are two types of characterization.

One is direct characterization and the second is indirect characterization. By using the character's thoughts, deeds, motivations, and responses to other people, the author might reveal indirect characterization of a character to the reader.

As an illustration, Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games is driven to volunteer for her sister because she wants to protect her (external) and because she would be unable to live with herself if she did not (internal).
